RIER is what happens when someone from the mountains moves to Paris. Andreas Steiner grew up in South Tyrol and founded his label in 2019. Its clothing looks simple at first: a fleece, a coat, a cardigan. Look closer and you see the Alps in every piece.
RIER ist das, was passiert, wenn jemand aus den Bergen nach Paris zieht. Andreas Steiner wuchs in Südtirol auf und gründete sein Label 2019. Die Kleidung wirkt zuerst einfach: ein Fleece, ein Mantel, eine Strickjacke. Schaut man genauer hin, sieht man die Alpen in jedem Stück.
RIER, c'est ce qui arrive quand quelqu'un des montagnes s'installe à Paris. Andreas Steiner a grandi au Tyrol du Sud et a fondé son label en 2019. Ses vêtements semblent simples au premier regard : une polaire, un manteau, un cardigan. En regardant de plus près, on voit les Alpes dans chaque pièce.
RIERは、山の出身者がパリに移り住んだら生まれたものだ。南チロルで育ったアンドレアス・シュタイナーが2019年にレーベルを立ち上げた。服は一見シンプル。フリース、コート、カーディガン。よく見ると、どの一着にもアルプスが見えてくる。

From South Tyrol to Paris
South Tyrol is the German-speaking mountain region in northern Italy. RIER is based in Paris, but its references come from there: farmers' and hunters' clothing, mountain uniforms and the materials people there have always trusted.
Südtirol ist die deutschsprachige Bergregion im Norden Italiens. RIER sitzt in Paris, aber seine Bezüge kommen von dort: Kleidung von Bauern und Jägern, Bergkleidung und die Materialien, denen die Leute dort schon immer vertraut haben.
Le Tyrol du Sud est la région de montagne germanophone du nord de l'Italie. RIER est basé à Paris, mais ses références viennent de là-bas : les vêtements des paysans et des chasseurs, les uniformes de montagne et les matières auxquelles les gens ont toujours fait confiance.
南チロルはイタリア北部のドイツ語圏の山岳地域。RIERの拠点はパリだが、その参照元はそこにある。農夫や猟師の服、山の制服、そして地元の人たちがずっと信頼してきた素材だ。

Loden and wool fleece
Two materials define RIER. Loden is a dense, felted wool cloth that keeps out wind and light rain and has been made in the Alps for centuries. RIER's polar fleece is not synthetic but made from wool, so it breathes better and ages well. The colours come straight from the landscape: forest green, stone grey, deep navy and a bright signal orange.
Zwei Materialien prägen RIER. Loden ist ein dichter, gewalkter Wollstoff, der Wind und leichten Regen abhält und seit Jahrhunderten in den Alpen hergestellt wird. Das Faserpelz-Fleece von RIER ist nicht synthetisch, sondern aus Wolle, darum atmet es besser und altert schön. Die Farben kommen direkt aus der Landschaft: Waldgrün, Steingrau, tiefes Marineblau und ein leuchtendes Signalorange.
Deux matières définissent RIER. Le loden est un drap de laine dense et feutré qui arrête le vent et la pluie légère, fabriqué dans les Alpes depuis des siècles. La polaire de RIER n'est pas synthétique mais en laine : elle respire mieux et vieillit bien. Les couleurs viennent tout droit du paysage : vert forêt, gris pierre, bleu marine profond et un orange signal éclatant.
RIERを形づくるのはふたつの素材。ローデンは風と小雨を防ぐ、密に縮絨したウール生地で、何世紀もアルプスで作られてきた。RIERのフリースは化繊ではなくウール製なので、通気性がよく、きれいに経年変化する。色は風景そのものから。フォレストグリーン、ストーングレー、深いネイビー、そして鮮やかなシグナルオレンジ。

Quiet luxury for the mountains
RIER is sold in some of the best fashion stores in the world, from Très Bien in Malmö to Liberty in London and SSENSE. Yet it never feels like a costume. It is mountain clothing stripped of all decoration, which makes it just as right in a city as in a mountain hut.
