San San Gear launched in Seoul in 2019 and quickly became one of the labels people mean when they talk about Korean gorpcore. It sits further towards fashion than most brands in this series, and that is exactly why it belongs here.

Taking outdoor apart

San San Gear does not copy familiar outdoor shapes. It takes the elements of technical clothing, fabrics, pockets, closures and silhouettes, and puts them together in new ways. The result works on a trail and in the city.

Its collaborations show the range: Puma, ASICS, even the video game League of Legends.

TOJI and the mountain

With TOJI, San San Gear turns towards the mountains. The autumn 2026 collection is called 1947, after the height in metres of Hallasan on Jeju Island, the highest peak in South Korea.

The brand connects it to the Taoist idea of wu wei: not doing nothing, but understanding the order of nature and adapting to it instead of trying to control it.

From the city outwards

Most San San Gear pieces start in the city and lean outwards: a packable windbreaker built for running, trousers in stretch CORDURA, a pack made with the bag brand Sealson. Function is there, but it never looks like standard outdoor gear.

Your turn: San San Gear is more style than summit. Would you wear it on a Swiss hike, or keep it for the city?
